Message from The CEO

PNG has been relatively cushioned from the worst influences of the deteriorating global economy. However, softer domestic conditions can be expected ahead, as bullish growth strategies within the mining and natural resources sector and the low PNG Kina hinders international competitive for some major sectors. Of which we are experiencing now for PNG job markets, conditions have not reminded fairly favorable for many areas for the workforce, although some fundamental shifts are taking place.

More employees are taking on contract and temporary roles, and record number of seniors are reentering the jobs market. The national unemployment rate is raising, albeit remaining low when compared with other advanced global economies and, with the exception of state owned (SOE) industry trying its best to employing a lot of potential employees.

At the same time new dynamics are set to emerge as PNG Government looks to stimulate small business sector with job creation forming as a central platform in the lead up to the Vision 2050 2050. This includes legislation to give local business more opportunities to win work, the creation of Industry innovation precincts, and new funding for Papua New Guineans to startup businesses.

Changes are also planned for stimulating factor by the Ministry of Trade and Commerce which seek to enshrine greater flexibility in owning a business with greater flexible working arrangements. Challenges are there to be faced as a self – employed individual. However, many lack the charisma, motivation and drive. But this does not stop individuals with determination and patience.

Technology is shaping organizations, government and the world. There is a global trend in which organization are evolving technology in all facet for organizational development and projects. However, investment in technology is of no value if the expected result is not produced. That is say for instance, emails are not working, printers not printing, over use of toners and inks, too many support request and etc.

Energy and Utilities companies in the world are combining seamless technology services. The technology allows robust substation management, grid management, transmission management. This paves the way for innovative solutions towards business growth.
